MONTHLY FAVOURITES (MAY 2015)

Hello my lovelies! It has been a splendid month. I have quite a bit of favourites this month, so let's just get started.

Favourite Beauty Products

Soap And Glory Glow Lotion

I was gifted this body lotion last year by my friends, but I didn't touch it till recently because I was using my previous lotion from The Body Shop. But I am greatly in love with this product. It is moisturising, smells good and even leaves a light shimmer on your body! It smells like a new hotel room, really sweet and soothing. Best thing is that it doesn't leave a sticky feeling after applying because it's not such a thick solution. My previous lotion form The Body Shop left this really sticky feeling which was unbearable at times. I would have given up if not for the extremely moisturising component. This Glow Lotion from Soap & Glory is not the kind suitable for overnight treatment, the ones where you can leave it throughout the night and let your skin absorb the goodness haha, but it's definitely good in replacement for a perfume when you head out. I use it everytime I go out clubbing!

Nivea Essential Care LipBalm

I have this bad habit of tearing my lips when I have nothing to do.... It's really bad hahah and it bleeds sometimes too. Around 2 months back (?), I decided to put more effort into taking care of my lips and this has been my go-to. Apart from the fact that my fav blogger dreachong promoted it, I find it really moisturing. And it feels very dainty having to uncap the cap and dabbing it on my lips haha. So yes, I have not found the need to change brands yet!!

Favourite Snack
Friends close to me know that I LOVE SNACKS. I love trying interesting snacks and this month, my favourite has got to be this Salty Fried Potato Sticks from Daiso ($2).

It tastes similar to the Calbee potato sticks but this is slightly denser. I think it's really value for money since it is cheaper compared to the Calbee's one and there's quite a lot in one packet. I also bought the Butter Fried Potato Sticks but that one was a disappointment. I didn't even bother to finish that. So yup, if you're looking for a good way to spend your calories, go for this!!

Favourite Cafe of the Month

I have visited a couple of cafes this month when I went out with my friends, but my favourite cafe has got to be Habitat Coffee. Taeyong and I ordered The Big Ben ($15) and we were so full, but greatly satisfied after that. (PS. I love you, bestie :-) I hope you learn to count on God for every struggle you face. And... be back at your house real soon. I miss Abby <3 )

The eggs were  G L O R I O U S ! No better way to describe it. Eat it with the hollaidanse sauce and it tastes x2 better. The brioche toast was nicely done too, and even though the hash browns were slightly burnt, I found it ok! The tomato was juicy and grilled to P E R F E C T I O N! Never a fan of bacon, so if I say the honey glazed bacons were G O O D , trust yo homegurl on this one. I am going to go big and say this is my favourite brunch of all time. So trust me and eat this at least once in your life :-)

Favourite Songs

Take Heart - The Sam Willows

Don't Sing - Data ft Benny Sings

Inside of Me - Montmartre

Hold Back The River - James Bay

Weight of It All - Handsome Ghost
In case you haven't figured out, this is my favourite Indie Band.

Worth it - Fifth Harmony ft Kid Ink

Make You Feel My Love - Adele

Favourite Fashion Item

I really really love my Nike Roshé!!!!! Besides my flats from Rubi, this footwear walked with me the most this month. It's so comfortable, so stylish and so versatile!! You might think it's quite hard to match a sports shoes to an outfit but it's really very fun to play around with. Here's an outfit idea.

Favourite Memory

I really had such a fantastic month that this is going to be hard for me. From meeting Gen, Su, Taeyong at Cups N Cavnas (Hi Gen and Su!! hahah thank you for reading my blog so often. You guys know I love you vvvvvv much), to me crashing all my friends' places to hound their lovely dogs, to Marcus bringing me out for dates, to getting my fitness regime back on track, to finding new friends..... but my favourite memory of this month is my Vietnam Trip.

This was the first time my parents travelled with just my sister and I. And on some days, my sister was lazy so she just stayed in the apartment and I had Mum and Dad all to myself TEEHEE hehehe. I sound like some attention-deprived child but I am not la. Hahah I just really love my parents and it's so rare when I have them all to myself. No phone calls from their subordinates/clients to disturb us, no other annoying siblings (hehe) to steal them from me HAHHA. We just really talked a lot and they learnt more about me and what I have been up to lately too.

You can check out my Vietnam Vlog here

If you asked me four months ago if I saw this coming, I would never have expected it. My family went through a really rough patch during that period and I fought so hard just to bring everyone together again. It made me realise that a family is not something that drops down from heaven. You know, some people never grew up in a complete family, but I just lived my life taking everyone for granted. Moments like these become more precious. If you're not having a good time with your family, my advice to you is to do everything you can to salvage the situation. You only got one family. It's your call ultimately.

Favourite Movie

I caught a number of movies this month and gosh, the last movie I watched before this month was Paddington Bear which was quite a while back lolol. I watched The Avengers, Pitch Perfect 2 and Spy this month!! It's so hard to decide the winner between Pitch Perfect 2 and Spy but I am going to go with Spy because I think the genre is more versatile and would suit a larger audience. I loved Pitch Perfect because I love musicals and I was bobbing and singing along throughout the movie. But Spy was hilarious!!

It's M18, contains some urm dick scenes haha not for the young audience. Melissa McCarthy did such a great job in this movie!! The show is about this CIA agent who has never had the chance to shine after many years, but finally attained her chance. She turns out to be an impressive, pudgy secret agent. If you're in need of a good laugh, go watch this!! Many thanks to Jolyn for this great recommendation!! :-)

Love,
Xin Hui

PS. Shoutout to Marshall!!! Hahah thanks for reading my blog too. hahah helps that I know I have an audience. Hit me with you best pick up line anytime :-) love you!!
