MONTHLY FAVOURITES (APRIL 2015)

Hello May!! Hello Summer <3

Well, not exactly. With 4 more days till my last paper, I still have a little more work to stress out on before I can truly appreciate my summer holidays. I don't have any concrete plans this May, given that I am not taking up any internship. I will most probably be spending my time meeting up with friends and travelling! Good news, my family and I are heading to Vietnam! So excited hehe, oh well since when have I not been excited to go overseas??

Coming back to April, this month was absolutely a M A D rush. Exams were torturous and I have never felt so stressed out studying for modules I don't like. Hmm, I hate DSC2008 and I just finished my paper today. I was so sure that I would fail the module but after taking the paper, I can I can at least pass to S/U it. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME hahah. I have been so tired lately that even after a good night's sleep, I still wake up feeling very drowsy :< But not everything is awful! I had some fun times , so here goes! :)

Favourite Just-For-Laughs

Hope after everyone sees this section, y'all will laugh and feel happier cause I totally LOL-ed at this.

"When you go pet a dog and it growls at you"

Favourite Girl's Night Out

F.Club is my favourite club of all time!! First off, the interior deign of the place is gorgeous. There is a chandelier and big ass paintings hanging in the room and it feels classy. Music was definitely good and kept me dancing all night. Just wanted to thank Wing so much for her spontaneity too! I was feeling really crappy that Wednesday evening so I casually mentioned that I wanted to go clubbing, and she just came w me heheh <3 So much love for you gurlll

Favourite Songs

I Really Like You - Carley Ray Jackson

Selamat Tinggal Sayang - Faridzuan Faris (feat. Fareez Shah)
This is actually a Malay song and even though I don't understand anything lolol, the tune and melody is really nice! The singer is from NUS too!

Classic - MKTO

Heartbeat - Mat Kearny

Favourite App

Dubsmash is literally my favourite app!!! HAHAH its hilarious and if you haven't checked it out, you really should! Here, you can check some that I did : https://vine.co/u/1126926978701029376

Favourite Weekend Event

Commissioning ball with Hakim for sure! Haha I really enjoy dressing up and I felt like a princess that day ~~~ I love my dress to bits too!

Very glad to have made a few friends that night too haha.

I have this soft spot for army guys because I think it's a bit of a pity that they have to sacrifice 2 years of their lives to our country. I do believe it is important but I just feel a bit sorry for them, so I always have this soft spot for army guys. Haha but not towards those who complain all the time about their army life.

I think Hakim is a great man who serves our country sincerely. His face beamed as he shared with me his army experience and I am very grateful towards him for showing me a new side of army life. Once again, thank you Hakim for bringing me as your date! Very proud of your achievements and thank you for being so gentlemanly! :)
I guess that wraps up my April! Stay tuned for more exciting posts coming up!

Love you all ~

Love,
Xin Hui

SARCASTIC UPDATE

11.14am

Hi everyone. One of my exams is down but I have another freaking 3 more to go, and I am literally drowning in all the work I have to do. I doubt I can finish revising everything in time. Freaking envious of all my friends that are done with examinations. I have never hated studying this much and I frigging wanna die rn. Can't wait for these 10 shit days to be over. OMG....

Just here for a short 10 minutes to inform my avid readers that if I fail to update anymore after this, do note it's because I have DIED from studying. I really feel like dying not lying ARGH.

I retract my previous pessimistic thoughts. For a short moment, I forgot. I forgot I had people around me who cared and can make me laugh. Thank you Sam for such an enjoyable dinner. It really gave me some breathing space admit all the stress. And thank you Marcus. For the welfare pack <3 and your constant support.

Finals, let's do this.

WHY IT'S OK TO HURT AND FALL

"She didn't know who will leave or stay, so she pushed them all away"

I could relate to the quote above for a really long time. To me, it was intuitive that you guard your heart so it does not get exposed to al the possible pain it could get. I was cautious about trusting someone new, and I try to talk myself out of committing to anyone.

But then, after some time, my life felt very empty. I had my best friends right beside me, I had my family, I had school, I had church, I had fun times, but I still feel empty. I don't think the emptiness was due to an absence of anyone in particular, or a prospective position. I feel that it is my inability to open up to new people, new friends I met along the way. That was why I felt empty, broken and lost.

It was like a moment of revelation for me. I found the root of the problem and I was ready to conquer it.

And I am trying.

I am trying to not place my doubts over people's good intentions. I am trying to believe there is trust and there are people who mean what they say.

And I think... it's okay to hurt. It's okay to fall in love and fall hard sometimes. It's okay to cry and feel horrible about a one-sided love. Because with sadness, there is also happiness. With tears, there is also laughter. And with heartbreak, there will be moments you will also feel really really protected.

To the broken ones, to the hopeful ones, shrug your worries off. Accept the excitement life has to offer and one day, I know you'll find what love really means to you.

xin hui

MONTHLY FAVOURITES (MARCH 2015)

I can't think of how to start this post. I just can't wait to publish this and let all these memories be immortalised on the internet.

Favourite Family Day

I went to Gardens by the Bay and a boat ride along Singapore River with my family on Good Friday. It's been so long since we had such an eventful family outing. I really treasure family time together, and even though I was pretty bored looking at all the flowers, I had fun just spending time with my family <3

Favourite song(s)

Burning Bridges - One Republic

Steps - Handsome Ghost

Blood Stutter - Handsome Ghost

When you say nothing at all - Ronan Keating

Superwoman - Cao Ge (but i like Jam Hsiao's rendition the best)

Favourite Quote

This love, is very different from what I expected. But that doesn't mean I am disappointed. It doesn't mean this isn't a blessing.

Favourite Top

This white embroidery top from Forever21 ($35) has been my go-to staple this month. It's so versatile and has a muted elegance about it. The embroidery details are really clean and feminine and I guess that's what I like best about it <3

Favourite Outings with my friends

There really can't be a favourite for this one. Even though I was really very busy with school, I still sacrificed some time to spend with people I love. This month, I really broke almost a couple of times because I felt like the whole weight was just too much for me to bear. But God blessed me and gave me friends to count on, hope to carry on. I have never been more touched by His Grace. Thank you Samantha, Charis, Ai Ling (esp thanks for helping w AIS and MKT. It's over bb.) , Serene, Faqrul, Marcus, Marshall for just helping me in one way or another.

This month, I had to face up to whatever I was running away from as well. For a long time, I hid my wounds and pretended that it was not there. Only when I tried to commit to someone else, I realised that the fear and the broken pieces of me were still building inside me. I want to thank you for accepting me for who I am, and helping me along every step of the way.

April is going to be really hectic, as exams are at the end of this month, and I am freaking out. I am hoping that I can do myself proud. Finally done with this post, and out it goes to the world.

Love,
Xin Hui
