I have relatively good skin compared to all my friends. I have never had a pimple breakout or more than 3 pimples on my face. I do not religiously take care of my skin and I don't even wash my face with any special products?! I have only used plain water and HAND SOAP till last month. But my skin was always well behaved and never given me any problems so I stuck to whatever I was doing.
I used to boast about how I am so proud of it to my cousin (annoying bitch I was) hahah but I was seriously kidding. I just didn't get what's the big deal about having pimples or not having any at all. In fact, in J1, when I had a red pimple on my nose, I was quite happy. To me, it was a sign that I was maturing and I would tell me friends "See! I am Rudolf the red nose reindeer!"
But after having quite bad skin complexion in March this year, I started to be more grateful for my better complexion. I blame my part time job serving as a waitress for the pimple colony on my forehead. I had to wear a cap whenever I was working and I was working for an average of 8 hours per day. At the start, I would wash my cap every evening and wear it in the morning back to work. But I got lazy and simply just sprayed hand disinfectant on it every morning. Obviously, things got quite bad.
I didn't have red pimples but I got these oil bubbles?? I don't really know how to explain it but it's the exact same colour as your skin, not obvious since it's not red. There's just many many of these small small humps on your forehead so my mother told me it's oil bubbles. I went for my first ever facial (!) after my mother couldn't stand my forehead and I had a freaking BAD time. I teared so badly when the beautician kept using her needle to poke all my imperfections. I had zits on my nose too, so she dealt with them. She kept laughing and asking me why was I crying and in my brain, I was like "are you kidding me..."
Even though I do use cleanser now and have stopped using hand soap to wash my face, I still think its ridiculous to apply so much chemicals onto your face. I witness my mother spending at least 10 minutes EVERY SINGLE NIGHT applying all sorts of facial products onto her face. God knows how much money has poured into her beauty regime. I just hope that I will never have to do the same. Thank God.
Skin, keep up the good work.
Love,
Xin Hui
