WEEK 9

Week 9 of school just went by. Here's an update!

I dare say I've become comfortable in class to be speaking out more now. Thank goodness since I will also be graded upon my class participation. I received my Mid Term score and even though I am at the 25th percentile, I wont let that beat me down. I remember myself struggling through everything before I made it in the end too. This is not going to be an exception.

I went for tchoukball training with Wing. Thanks Wing for accompanying me! Love you loadss <3 I like the sport, I like working as a team and I love sweating from a good workout! I cant wait for the next training!

Highlight of last week has to be Friday. I finally surprised Sam with the card that I took so much effort to do! So obvious I have given my heart to this girl already. I handed Sam her present when our whole clique met a few days before her actual birthday and idk, but I THINK she was upset I didnt write her a card? haha idk but I would be sasd if there wasnt a card for my birthday. On Friday which was her actual birthday, Charis and I got a cake from Starbucks and waited outside her class to surprise her! hehe then I wasted my time doing nonsense before going for USS HHN4.

I recently feel very awkward when I go home. I am always a bit more touchy when I go home 'cause I am so exhausted from giving tuition throughout the weekend. I am afraid of getting into quarrels so I rarely talk when I am home...

Can I also just give a mini rant here because I feel that if any of my friends see this, it can clear up any misunderstandings or anything. I don't like it when my friends are constantly on their phone when I am with them. First off, I think its plain rude. Its basic respect to a fellow stranger to look at them when you're talking, what more when you're with your friend?! Working as a waitress before, I have seen how some family dinners turn out to be so quiet and boring because EVERYONE was on their phone. I feel that it is more important to focus with the person you're with, give full attention to the company you invited out then stick with your phone all the time. I am glad my mother taught me ever since I got my first handphone how it should never distract me from my surroundings. My family dinners are always more cheery, livelier than the table next to us. At the table next to us, there's always a phone addict. So if you're guilty of this, my advice to you is change now. The conversations you have with the person right in front of you is more important than how many likes your recently posted Instagram photo is having, more important than the person you're whatsapping, more valuable than the never-ending "new" tweets.

Some of my close friends have asked me before why I never seem to have important whatsapp messages to attend to, social media addiction problem. "Well, because I value YOU more than that. I am grateful for the time you sacrificed to meet me. And I respect you." Simple as that.

Don't let your phone addiction kill your relationships.

On a happier note, I had a really good food monday with my university friends! For lunch, I went with Desmond, Ai Ling, Chu Wen, Serene, Benny, Zi Hui and Felicia to dine at Late Plate! Best cafe in NUS! I had the Tom Yum Pasta ($9.90) and it was not bad! The Tom Yum taste was distinctive and it was rich in flavour. I didn't find the flavour to be overpowering, neither did I feel gelat after eating it. But I dont eat mussels and calamaris so I didn't like picking out the calamaris from my pasta noodles hehe. If you're big on Seafood, go try it! It's quite common for the chefs to give you a free serving of fries for your company to enjoy, so do make sure to put on a smile while ordering! :)

For dinner, I ate at REEDZ Cafe with Xinmei! I love the food there. I dont like Biz Canteen so REEDZ Cafe is a god-sent!! Today, I had the Beef Bolognese. V yummy and so cheap! $5.90 only :) To date, I have tried the Mushroom Grilled Chicken and the Turkey Bacon Aglio Olio as well. All were of satisfactory standard :)

Have a great week ahead you! :)

Love,
Xin Hui
